This explains what LRL collects, why, how long it is kept and what you can require of us. Where a number appears it is the number the systems actually enforce, not a rounded one.
Who is responsible
LRL is the controller for the processing described here. For any question about your data, or to exercise any right below, write to hallo@lrlsystems.com. A person reads that mailbox.
The newsletter
If you subscribe, we store your email address, the edition you chose, any interests you selected and the language you subscribed in.
We do not ask for your name and there is no field for one. A newsletter needs an address to send to and enough to send the right edition; a name would buy a greeting and cost a personal-data field on every row.
Subscribing does not put you on the list. We send one confirmation email and you are only subscribed once you press the button in it. If you never confirm, nothing is sent to you. If the confirmation cannot be sent, we do not keep the address at all.
- Lawful basis: your consent, given by confirming.
- A retention period of 730 days from your last engagement is specified, but the job that enforces it is not yet built. Until it is, we keep the address. We would rather say that than imply a deletion that does not happen.
- Unsubscribing ends the subscription and stops all sending. The address itself currently stays on the ended record; it is not deleted today.
The exception to deletion
If mail to your address hard-bounces, if you mark a message as spam, or if you unsubscribe, we record a one-way cryptographic hash of the address so that it is not mailed again. This record is permanent by design, so that a complaint is honoured for good.
Being precise about what that hash is: it is a stable pseudonym, not anonymisation. It cannot be turned back into your address on its own, but anybody holding a list of candidate addresses could compute the same hash and confirm whether one of them appears. We treat it as personal data and it is covered by every right below.
Who else sees it
Email is delivered by Resend, acting on our instructions and using their EU endpoint. They receive the address in order to deliver the message. We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.
Forms and enquiries
If you contact us or submit an enquiry, we keep what you sent so we can answer it. Where we ask permission to contact you for a specific purpose, that permission is recorded against that purpose alone — consent to one does not extend to another.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. Where we rely on consent you can withdraw it at any time, and withdrawing it does not affect what was lawful before.
Write to hallo@lrlsystems.com and we will answer within one month. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, the Dutch supervisory authority.
Changes
If what we do changes, this page changes with it rather than after it. The date at the top is when it was last revised.
